Both personally and through our business, the Durkans and Madison Financial Concepts have supported the National Kidney Foundation for some years. We do not have a family member with kidney disease, but have come to know how common, devastating, and life threatening diseases of the kidneys are.
When your kidneys are not functioning properly, you are a candidate for cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney disorders, urinary tract disorders, and ultimately in need of dialysis and/or organ transplants. To help fight these dreaded diseases, kindly join us on Sunday, October 19th (Check-in: 9:30; Walk begins: 10:30 at South Street Seaport) to raise funds for the National Kidney Foundation of Greater New York.
26 million American adults have chronic kidney disease and another 20 million are at risk and don't know it. Early kidney disease has no symptoms, and can become kidney failure with little or no warning; it is for this reason that kidney disease has been labeled a 'silent killer' and a 'quiet epidemic.'
The NKF is a global leader in the fight against kidney disease through education, research, patient care and advocacy.
Sign up on our website and donate to the cause. Every dollar helps.
For those of you who will be walking: we will be stopping off after the event to refresh ourselves for the evening ahead.
